Indonesia’s President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, has expressed concerns about the delicate state of global affairs, pointing to the unwise actions of certain world leaders as a contributing factor.
“The world is facing a precarious situation, with world leaders who, in my view, are displaying behavior that is not wise,” Prabowo stated during his speech at the opening of the Forum Sinergitas Legislator PKB in Jakarta on Thursday (October 10).
Prabowo also criticized nations that prioritize imposing their agendas on others, emphasizing that global peace requires tolerance and mutual respect.
“We need wisdom. We need an environment of mutual respect, not one where countries impose their will on others. Unfortunately, there are nations that are seeking to assert their dominance,” he remarked.
Prabowo also pointed out the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, highlighting the devastating impact of these conflicts on innocent civilians.
“We are witnessing the tragic loss of innocent lives, including women and children, being caught in the crossfire—not in small numbers, but in the hundreds of thousands,” Prabowo noted.
He also mentioned the threats exchanged between Israel and Iran, further exacerbating the volatile situation in the region.
Despite the global instability, Prabowo acknowledged Indonesia’s peaceful environment, attributing it to the open dialogue among different factions in the country, including political parties. He expressed confidence that despite supporting a different candidate in the previous election, PKB (Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa) would collaborate with him to enhance the nation.
“I am grateful that we embrace diversity. Despite our differences, we come together. Our disagreements can foster collaboration, even though PKB supported another candidate in the last election,” Prabowo affirmed.
“I trust that PKB will stand by me in nation-building. Differences should not be a hindrance,” he concluded. (RR)
