President Prabowo Subianto recently expressed his strong belief in Indonesia’s capability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as scheduled, making it one of the pioneering countries to reach this significant milestone. In a video conference focused on the expansion of renewable energy development and oil production in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s efficiency in energy generation and reduction of costly logistics chains. He highlighted the vital role of energy independence in the country’s vision for national sovereignty, outlining a strategy that involves the launch of 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to ensure clean, reliable, and efficient energy distribution throughout the archipelago.
Acknowledging the collaboration of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition, President Prabowo stressed the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in achieving energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. He expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, pointing to solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands.
